Welcome To The Auction!

Fifth grade students have created artworks that have the potential to make a positive impact on others.

On a local level, a portion of the money raised will be used to provide much needed school supplies for a Loudoun County elementary school whose students would benefit most from a donation from our fifth graders.

On a global level, the remainder of the money raised will provide much-needed financial support to the Nunya Music Academy in Dzodze, Ghana.  (http://www.nunyaacademy.com/)    Mr. Sprengel, the Newton-Lee Elementary Art Teacher, and Mrs. Moseley, the Newton-Lee Elementary Music Teacher, had a unique opportunity last summer to visit Dzodze, Ghana as a part of the Orff-Afrique Master Class. There, Mr. Sprengel, Mrs. Moseley and their fellow travelers worked with the children of the Nunya Music Academy, learning traditional Ghanaian drumming, dancing, and games. The Academy is in the process of constructing a school building, as they do not currently have a permanent facility. After working with the talented students of the Academy and seeing their passion for keeping their traditions alive, Mr. Sprengel was inspired to engage in this project with the fifth graders at Newton-Lee.
